Personal statement To BSN-DNP program

My name is F.H I am from Eritrea, I came to the US about 18 years ago for medical treatment. because of the great care, I got from healthcare professionals I promised my self as a young girl to become one of them. However, because of the paper issue, I could not pursue my dream. In 2007 I start my first walk to health care by taking a medical assistant course, I graduated in 2008, and because of the economy in 2008, I could not find any job. At the end of 2008, I started working as a nursing assistant in a long term facility. while I was working the employer offered me if I want to go to nursing school they will pay for me, I think they have seen my potential. My employer sends me to LPN school part-time, working, and go to school. I graduated in 2011 and start working as a staff nurse with my LPN license. I always want to continue my education but a lot of personal problems holding me up until 2018, went back to get my RN, soon I got my RN to continue to get my BSN. I finished my BSN in April of 2020. I know my eagerness to learn is not going to stop at this time, the time that I did not and can not do what I love to do, I got the opportunity to do it now. I always want to go farther, I seen my coworkers and friends do this and I always want to do it also. I believe nursing is life long learning and I want to pursue my education, when I saw the BSN-DNP program I knew I can not stop or take any break anymore. I want to learn and get where I want to get. At this time I work two jobs, 40 hr as a dialysis nurse, and continue working as a per diam in my old job as a staff nurse in a long term facility. With this pandemic going on I pick up a lot in my long term facility, which is a place a lot hit with this pandemic and want to help, as they helped me to become who I am now. Nursing is not just a job for me, nursing is my passion, my comfort zone. Continue my education is not going to change who I am as a nurse, but I know it will change my ability to help more.
