Importance of Developmental Assessments in Adolescents and Children

Importance of Developmental Assessments in Adolescents and Children. Development assessment among children and adolescents will be necessary. The assessment will help to determine if children or adolescents will have achieved the development milestones at a given level of they have developmental disorders or delays. A developmental assessment helps to identify different developmental problems and also determine if there will be a need for further diagnostic evaluation. Development assessment also helps to provide an objective description of a child’s deficits and abilities, which is typically referred to as a functional assessment.  Development assessment also helps in the determination of the eligibility of a child or adolescents to given programs and supports the introduction of early intervention programs.
